Immunization Requirements

Under Idaho law (IC 39-3601), we are required to obtain proof of immunizations and report the status of immunizations in our school to the Idaho Department of Education.  Proof will consist of medical or health department records.  A student not in compliance with the district immunization policy upon admission to grades K-12 will be denied attendance by this district.

Immunizations required are:

          þ 5 DTaP vaccines,

þ 3 doses of Hep B for children born AFTER November 22, 1991,

þ 3 doses of Polio vaccine, and

þ 2 doses each of measles/mumps/rubella vaccine given after one year of age.

Parents may, for religious, medical, or personal reasons, claim an exemption to these requirements by completing an exemption form.

As a school, we believe these laws are for the benefit of all children.  We have seen the virtual eradication of many serious diseases once considered a natural part of childhood.  However, in recent years some of these diseases have been showing up again, prompting the passage of the legislation referred to above.  We encourage compliance with these statutes.  The health and well being of children is at stake.

For those who have not completed all of the required immunizations, the health department conducts clinics to provide the immunizations FREE to children under the age of 12.  The present schedule is the first Thursday of the month, 9 a.m. - 12 noon by appointment or 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. for walk-ins.  Appointments and information regarding these clinics may be obtained by calling the health department at 547-4375.

If you desire more information or wish to discuss this with school officials, please call or come in.  We express our appreciation for your cooperation.
