Dear Parents:

           Welcome to a new school year at Thirkill Elementary.  We are excited to begin another year with high expectations of success for each child and family we serve.  Each new school year provides opportunities to acquire new knowledge, new friends, new learning experiences, new perspectives, and new understanding.  It is a time of excitement, joy, and anticipation.

           I am thrilled to participate in the energy that is shared by your child as they enter the doors of Thirkill Elementary.  Children are a wonderful model for us as they demonstrate the skills necessary to remain teachable.  They are always looking for answers and seeking to understand whatever others are willing to share.  They are caring and concerned for others.  They work to adapt to new settings and to new people.  They are respectful and hard working.  I am honored to have the opportunity to serve them.

           Please be careful as you bring your child to school.  Your child’s safety is one of our major concerns.  We hope that you find our website helpful in clarifying questions you may have about school policies and procedures.  Communication between school and home is vital to the success of all concerned.

           We realize the importance of developing in each child an attitude of self-respect and self worth.  It is such a joy for us when we are able to make our school a positive and progressive experience for your child.  Please help us continue to serve you and your child better by sharing with us your concerns and needs.  Together we can make a powerful difference.  Thank you for your support and help.
